Both get rid of rubbish — but they work very differently. Here’s how to choose.

A skip bin is dropped off empty and you fill it yourself, at your own pace, over however many days you’ve hired it for. Rubbish removal is the opposite — we come to an already-formed pile (or help you sort what’s going) and load it ourselves, in one visit.
If the physical labour of lifting and carrying items is the hard part of your job, that’s the main thing a rubbish removal service changes.
If you’re generating rubbish over an extended period — an ongoing renovation, a slow multi-weekend garage clear-out — having a bin sitting on-site to fill as you go can be convenient, provided you have somewhere permitted to place it (many councils require a permit for a skip bin on a public street).
When the rubbish already exists as a pile and you want it gone in one visit without doing any lifting yourself.
When you don’t have space or council approval for a bin to sit on your property or street.
When the job is a one-off rather than an ongoing, multi-week accumulation.
Do I need a council permit for a skip bin but not for rubbish removal?
Skip bins placed on a public street typically require council approval in most Sydney LGAs; a rubbish removal visit doesn’t leave anything sitting on the street, so this isn’t usually a factor.
Can rubbish removal handle the same volume as a large skip bin?
Yes — large jobs are quoted as multiple truckloads if needed, the same way a larger skip bin size would be chosen for a bigger job.
